Pep Guardiola has insisted the Premier League title race is far from decided despite Manchester City dropping points in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on March 4.
City surrendered the lead twice at the Etihad Stadium. Goals from Antoine Semenyo and Rodri had put the champions ahead, but Morgan Gibbs-White and later Elliot Anderson responded for Forest to ensure the visitors left Manchester with a point.
The result became even more damaging for City after league leaders Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion, tightening their grip on the title race.
That win moved Arsenal seven points ahead of City, putting Mikel Arteta’s side firmly in control as they chase their first English league title since 2004.
Although City still have a game in hand and will host Arsenal in a potentially decisive clash in April, Guardiola acknowledged his side’s struggle to maintain control late in matches.
However, the City boss remains confident his team can still catch Arsenal with nine league fixtures remaining.
“Still many games to play, them (Arsenal) one less. Of course there are things we can improve in some departments,” Guardiola was quoted on straits times.com.
“There are games where we don’t deserve it. Today we played in general good for 90 minutes. It’s not about this action or that action. In general, when we analyse the game, the game was well played.”
