Coventry City sign Onyeka on permanent deal after EPL promotion

Coventry City have confirmed the permanent signing of Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka, following their promotion to the Premier League, with head coach Frank Lampard securing one of his key squad targets for the new top-flight campaign.

Onyeka originally arrived at the Sky Blues on loan from Brentford in January, and the club have now triggered the option to make the move permanent after sealing promotion from the Championship. Reports indicate Coventry will pay around €8 million to complete the transfer.

“Coventry City also have the opportunity to acquire Frank Onyeka’s registration on a permanent basis upon the expiry of the Loan Agreement which will be with effect from July 1st 2026,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.

The former FC Midtjylland midfielder played a key role in Coventry’s promotion push, contributing one goal and one assist in 14 Championship appearances.
