Chelsea match 30-year EPL record with sixth straight loss

Chelsea’s miserable end to the season plunged further into crisis as they suffered a sixth consecutive Premier League defeat, their worst losing streak in more than three decades, according to The Independent.

A 3–1 loss at Stamford Bridge to a heavily rotated Nottingham Forest side highlighted just how far the Blues have fallen.

Forest, revitalised under manager Vitor Pereira, continued their impressive surge toward safety with a clinical performance.

The defeat marks Chelsea’s first run of six straight league losses since November 1993, compounding what had already been their poorest stretch of form since 1912.

Despite the bleak run, they at least avoided an unprecedented six-match goal drought thanks to a late strike from João Pedro.

Forest wasted no time asserting control, with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring inside two minutes. Igor Jesus doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after Malo Gusto brought down the Nigerian forward in the box.

Awoniyi struck again early in the second half, finishing from close range after a low delivery from Morgan Gibbs-White.

Chelsea’s frustration deepened when João Pedro had an earlier effort ruled out by VAR for a marginal offside.

Cole Palmer also missed a chance to pull one back before the break, seeing his penalty saved by goalkeeper Matz Sels after Zach Abbott fouled Jesse Derry, who was later stretchered off and taken to hospital following the collision.

Pedro eventually found the net in stoppage time, producing a moment of quality with an acrobatic bicycle kick after controlling Marc Cucurella’s cross.

The goal ended a barren run of more than nine hours without scoring for Chelsea.

Currently without a permanent manager and led on an interim basis by Calum McFarlane following Liam Rosenior’s dismissal, Chelsea have now gone without a league win since January.

Many of their recent defeats have been heavy, and this latest result nearly added another 3–0 loss to a worrying pattern.

Chelsea remain ninth in the table, now 10 points adrift of the Champions League places and at risk of slipping into the bottom half if their poor form continues.
