Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin, has formally accepted a celebrity boxing challenge initially floated years ago by show promoter Paul Okoye for a bout involving herself and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo.
In a post shared on her official Instagram page on Sunday, Anjorin said she was ready to step into the ring, referencing a renewed wave of interest in celebrity boxing following the recent bout between streamer Carter Efe and Afrobeats artiste Portable in Lagos.
According to her post, she was responding to Paul Okoye’s earlier proposal for a staged boxing match between her and Ojo, an idea first made public in 2024 with a reported ₦10 million prize attached.
She wrote, “Paul O, I saw your post a few years ago calling me and Iyabo for a ring fight. As at today, 3rd May 2026, I accept your challenge.
“You (Paul O) and Chief Lawal will fight 10 rounds non-stop in the ring. Then the next day, it will be me and Iyabo Ojo in the ring.”
Anjorin also introduced conditions to the proposed fights, escalating the drama by demanding public accountability over wealth and achievements from those involved.
The remarks have further intensified the long-running online exchanges between the parties.
She wrote, “You can’t talk about your status or claimed fake riches. The last time I checked, you and Iyabo Ojo are still tenants while Chief Lawal owns estates and mansions. I challenge both of you to show your properties and achievements with proper documentation for verification.
“Let this serve as a lesson: Never disrespect or look down on anybody. Just because we don’t show off doesn’t mean your 1943 Bentley can buy even a plot of land from our estate.”
The controversy traces back to repeated public disagreements and legal tensions between Anjorin and Ojo, including a ₦1 billion defamation suit filed in 2025, which was later struck out on procedural grounds, though further legal steps were reportedly indicated.
The renewed call-out comes amid a growing celebrity boxing trend in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, which has recently drawn widespread attention following high-profile influencer and music clashes in organised fight events.
