President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will overcome banditry and terrorism, reiterating his commitment to strengthening security and investing in citizens.
Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday during the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, where he also unveiled several infrastructure projects alongside Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“We will win over banditry and terrorism. I give you the assurance that we will invest more in our people,” the President said.
He noted that the presence of newly deployed security vehicles at the event reflected the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property. According to him, enhancing security capacity remains central to his administration’s agenda.
“The development and deployment of additional security assets is strengthening our resolve to protect lives and property,” Tinubu added.
The President also commended Nigerian youths for their resilience and contributions to national development. “Thank God for our youth. They are committed, brilliant, and working hard. Nigeria is on the path of greatness once again,” he said.
Tinubu described the newly commissioned airport as a landmark project, highlighting its independent power supply as a major achievement.
“This airport is separately connected to independent power through our investments in gas and energy,” he stated.
He further expressed satisfaction with other initiatives launched at the event, including mobility, security, and agricultural programmes.
Tinubu particularly praised the introduction of electric bikes, describing it as a forward-looking solution to transportation challenges.
“The commissioning of 1,000 electric bikes is a smart response to modern transportation needs, embracing technology rather than fossil fuels to improve daily life,” he said.
The event was initially scheduled earlier in the week but was postponed following the President’s visit to Jos to sympathise with victims of a recent violent attack. Gunmen had reportedly stormed a community in the area, leaving several people dead and others injured.
