President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reschedule his planned visit to Iperu in Ogun State, opting instead to travel to Jos to commiserate with victims of recent attacks in Plateau State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President altered his itinerary in response to the killings, which claimed several lives.
“The President will now travel to Jos to sympathise with the government and people of Plateau State over the recent gun attacks that led to the loss of innocent lives,” Onanuga said.
Tinubu had initially been scheduled to visit Iperu on Thursday to inaugurate operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport. However, that trip has now been shifted.
Following his visit to Plateau, the President is expected to proceed to Lagos, where he will observe the Good Friday.
On Saturday, April 4, Tinubu will travel to Ogun State to perform the postponed inauguration of the cargo airport and unveil two commercial aircraft intended to boost import and export activities in the state.
“He will also inaugurate the new edifice of theE4 Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service and its operational vehicles,” the statement added.
The President is also scheduled to return to Lagos for the Easter holiday, during which he will commission several infrastructure projects executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
These include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System building, a multi-agency complex named after the President, and a school complex.
Before concluding his tour, Tinubu will visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to inaugurate projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri.
The presidency said the four-state visit underscores the administration’s commitment to national unity, infrastructure development, and support for communities affected by violence.
