President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Fitr period in Lagos, following his recent state visit to the United Kingdom.
The President departed Lagos on Wednesday evening, with his aircraft taking off from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 6:44 p.m.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu had earlier arrived in Nigeria from the United Kingdom in the early hours of Friday.
During his stay in Lagos, the President observed the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks and held a series of high-level engagements.
He met with 23 state governors, including Biodun Oyebanji, as well as prominent business and political figures.
“During his stay, the President received governors, business leaders, and key stakeholders as part of ongoing consultations,” Onanuga said.
Among those who visited the President were Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, a delegation from the European Union, and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also travelled to Lagos to brief the President on his recent visit to Borno State following a suicide bombing incident.
Onanuga noted, “The Vice President briefed the President on developments in Borno State during his visit to Lagos.”
Several dignitaries were present at the President’s residence and the airport ahead of his departure, including Dapo Abiodun, former Ogun State governor Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
“Top government officials and party leaders were also on ground to see the President off,” the statement added.
