A Federal High Court in Kaduna has postponed the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, until March 31, 2026.
The adjournment followed proceedings held on Tuesday, where both the prosecution and the defence presented their arguments before the court.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant bail, emphasizing his client’s constitutional rights and the necessity of adequate time to prepare for his defence.
In response, the prosecution opposed the request, maintaining that the allegations against the former governor are grave. It further argued that granting bail at this stage could potentially affect ongoing investigations.
The case is expected to resume on the adjourned date for further consideration of the bail application.
