Army announces shooting exercise in Kaduna

The Headquarters, 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, has notified residents of Kaduna State of an upcoming military shooting exercise scheduled for later this month.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Ajemusu Jingina, said the exercise would run from March 23 to March 27 at the Nigerian Air Force Base Shooting Range in Mando.

According to him, the operation is part of routine military training aimed at improving the efficiency of personnel.

“The exercise is designed to sharpen the marksmanship abilities of officers and soldiers while also evaluating the operational condition of their weapons,” Jingina stated.

He urged residents living around the Mando area and nearby communities to remain calm during the period, noting that gunfire and increased troop movement should not cause alarm.

“We appeal to members of the public, particularly those residing near the Nigerian Air Force Base, Mando, not to panic at the sound of gunshots or the movement of military equipment,” he said.

Jingina further advised residents to avoid the shooting range throughout the duration of the exercise to ensure their safety.

He added that the army appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public as it continues efforts to maintain operational readiness.
