Character, not appointments, make men’ – Police New Media Officer

The newly appointed New Media Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Aliyu Giwa, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, promising to serve with dedication and integrity.

Giwa, who now serves as the Force New Media Officer, expressed deep gratitude to the IGP for the appointment, describing it as a sacred responsibility that he intends to honour through hard work and commitment.

Reflecting on his journey in the police force, Giwa emphasised that leadership positions should be defined by character rather than titles.

“I have walked this path long enough to know that appointments do not make men, character does,” he said, while acknowledging that the new role carries profound personal significance.

He also commended the Inspector-General for entrusting him with the position, noting that the confidence placed in him would motivate him to deliver his best for the country.

“You reached into the ranks of this great Force and said ‘him’. I will spend every day of this appointment proving that you were right — not for validation, but because Nigeria deserves nothing less than my absolute best,” Giwa said.

The senior police officer said his professional experiences and past postings had prepared him for the responsibility.

“Every posting, every challenge, and every season that tested my resolve prepared me for such a time as this. I stand here today not in arrogance but in the quiet confidence of a man who knows where he has come from and where he is going,” he added.

“The work ahead is serious. The responsibility is immense. And I am ready,” Giwa stated.
