A Nigerian photographer and motorcycle enthusiast, Orowole Kolapoz, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has reportedly died after a lone crash in Lagos.
He passed away in the early hours of Monday, March 2, 2026, after spending several hours in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
The 32-year-old travel lover and brand influencer was said to have been involved in the crash on Sunday while embarking on what he described as his first solo motorcycle journey outside Lagos.
Earlier that day, he had shared on his verified Facebook page that he was riding to Akure.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote on Sunday, March 1.
According to friends, he was first taken to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota, before he was moved to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba. Supporters had continued to pray for his recovery on social media while he battled for his life.
The news of his death has since sparked an outpouring of grief online, with friends, colleagues and followers remembering him as a passionate creative, an adventurous spirit and a source of inspiration.
Authorities are yet to confirm the precise circumstances that led to the crash.
Just in January, Kola had marked the fulfilment of a long-held ambition after becoming a biker, posting a photo of himself beside his newly acquired motorcycle.
“I recently became a new biker. One of my life dreams clocked and achieved! I won’t fall and die on this – Amen!” he wrote on X.
