Werder Bremen sporting director, Peter Niemeyer, has ruled out any chance of Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface featuring again this season.
Boniface suffered a knee injury during a training session in December, which forced him to undergo surgery earlier this year.
The Nigeria international is currently working his way back to full fitness through rehabilitation.
Niemeyer admitted that the club cannot yet determine when the forward will be ready to return to competitive action.
“He’s completing his rehab in Leverkusen, and we’re happy about every bit of progress. But it’s still impossible to predict how quickly he’ll be fully fit again,” Niemeyer told DeichStube.
“Due to the rehabilitation process, we don’t expect Victor to play for Werder again this season.”
Boniface joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The 25-year-old managed two assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances for the Green and Whites before his injury setback.
