Real Sociedad maintained their strong La Liga form with a 3-1 victory over Elche at the Reale Arena, stretching their unbeaten streak to seven league matches (W4, D3).
For Elche, the defeat marked their sixth game without a win (D2, L4) and continued their struggles on the road this season (D4, L7).
The opening stages were largely a midfield battle, with both sides passing the ball without creating clear chances.
The first real opportunity came in the ninth minute when Alex Remiro produced a stunning one-handed save to deny Andre Silva, following a slick Elche attack.
Real Sociedad struggled to find rhythm early on, registering no attempts in the opening 20 minutes.
But they took the lead in the 23rd minute when Luca Sucic bent home a shot on his second attempt, catching Elche off guard.
Soon after, Elche appealed for a penalty when Sergio Gomez appeared to foul German Valera, but the referee waved their claims aside.
Sociedad capitalized on Elche’s defensive mistakes moments later: a poor back pass left goalkeeper Inaki Pena stranded, allowing Mikel Oyarzabal to calmly slot into an empty net for a 2-0 advantage.
Silva pulled one back before halftime with a neat left-footed finish, keeping Elche within touching distance.
The second half saw Sociedad start faster, with Remiro again keeping them ahead by denying Silva’s follow-up. Pablo Marin thought he had scored Sociedad’s third, only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.
The game became end-to-end, with Elche almost equalizing after a flowing team move, but Silva’s last-ditch block preserved Sociedad’s lead.
In the final stages, chances came and went at both ends, including a glaring miss by Orri Oskarsson from two yards. However, in the dying moments, Oskarsson redeemed himself, slotting home a third to seal the win for Sociedad.
The result reinforces Elche’s recent struggles, marking their third consecutive league defeat for the first time since April 2023.
