Nestlé Nigeria Plc has reassured consumers that none of its infant formula products sold in the country is affected by the recent voluntary recall announced in some foreign markets.
The company clarified that the recall involved specific batches distributed outside Nigeria and does not include products manufactured or sold by Nestlé Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Toju Egbebi, following concerns raised by reports circulating online.
According to Egbebi, all Nestlé infant formula products available in Nigeria are duly registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and meet both local and international safety standards.
“The affected products referenced online or in some reports are not supplied to the Nigerian market,” she said.
She assured parents and caregivers that the company’s infant nutrition brands in Nigeria remain safe.
“We would like to reassure consumers that all SMA and NAN product ranges sold by Nestlé Nigeria are safe for consumption,” Egbebi stated.
The products listed as unaffected include SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, SMA Gold 3, NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2, and NAN Optipro 3.
Egbebi emphasised that Nestlé Nigeria places the highest priority on food safety, especially where infant nutrition is concerned.
“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, remain our top priorities,” she said.
She also urged members of the public to seek information from verified sources and to contact Nestlé Nigeria or relevant regulatory authorities for clarification whenever there are doubts about product safety.
