Inter beat Bologna 3-1 to maintain Serie A top spot

Inter Milan continued their Serie A title push with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bologna on Matchday 18, delivering another assured performance at the top of the table.

Simone Inzaghi’s side dominated proceedings at San Siro, creating a steady flow of chances and keeping Bologna largely on the back foot, although visiting goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia prevented a heavier defeat with several fine saves.

The breakthrough arrived in the 39th minute when Piotr Zieliński produced a moment of brilliance, firing a superb left-footed strike into the net after being teed up by captain Lautaro Martínez.

Inter carried their momentum into the second half and doubled their advantage shortly after the restart, as Martínez rose highest to head home Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s corner.

The Nerazzurri sealed the contest in the 74th minute through Marcus Thuram, who showed great awareness to flick in another corner at the near post.

Late in the game, Inter handed a first-team debut to 2006-born Matteo Lavelli, underlining their confidence as the match drew to a close.

Bologna managed a consolation goal through Santiago Castro, but it did little to alter the outcome.

With 39 points from 17 matches, Inter remain in pole position in the Serie A standings, narrowly ahead of AC Milan on 38 points and Napoli on 37.
