Serie A: De Ketelaere ends goal drought as Atalanta beat Torino 2–0

Charles De Ketelaere ended his 118-day Serie A goal drought as Atalanta edged Torino 2–0, sealing a third straight league win over the Granata — a feat they had not managed at any point earlier this season.

With Gianluca Scamacca and Sead Kolasinac still short of full fitness, Nikola Krstovic led the line after his midweek brace against Bologna.

Atalanta were also without Raoul Bellanova, Mitchel Bakker, Ademola Lookman and Odilon Kossounou, while Torino missed Cesare Casadei through suspension and several others due to injuries and international duty.

The breakthrough arrived inside 13 minutes when De Ketelaere glanced a header at the near post from a Lorenzo Bernasconi corner, the ball skimming under the crossbar to finally end the Belgian’s long scoring drought.

Atalanta continued to push, with Krstovic and Aboukhlal both denied in the six-yard box, while Davide Zappacosta struck the upright from a tight angle after a clever back-heel from Nicola Zalewski.

Torino threatened sporadically, but Marco Carnesecchi produced a string of fine saves, including a stunning one-on-one stop to deny Giovanni Simeone.

The match remained finely balanced deep into the second half, as Nikola Vlasic narrowly missed the target late on.

Torino’s final push collapsed in stoppage time when Cristiano Biraghi’s cross was intercepted, allowing Mario Pasalic to break from his own half and calmly finish past Alberto Paleari to seal the win.

The late goal sparked emotional scenes for Pasalic, who was embraced by teammates after scoring just weeks after the loss of his father, as Atalanta closed out a hard-fought and meaningful victory.
