Oliver Glasner has heaped praise on Chrisantus Uche and the rest of his Crystal Palace squad after their commanding UEFA Conference League victory over Shelbourne on Thursday.
The Eagles strengthened their bid for automatic qualification to the knockout rounds with a convincing 3-0 triumph in Dublin.
Uche, Eddie Nketiah, and Yeremy Pino all found the net as Palace overwhelmed the Irish side before the break.
Despite the absence of the injured Jean-Philippe Mateta, Uche stepped up impressively, latching onto Nketiah’s low delivery to break the deadlock.
The duo combined fluently throughout the encounter, and Nketiah made it 2-0 after Uche’s effort rebounded off the post.
The comprehensive win pushes Palace into ninth place, just a point shy of the top eight. They now require only a draw at home against KuPS next Thursday to secure a play-off berth for the last 16.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, Glasner said, “Credit to the players for their attitude today. The pitch was not in the best condition, they’re playing against a team who want to show up and I think we played a very good game.
“First half, scored nice goals. We spoke at half-time to keep the pace high and we did, created many chances and unfortunately we missed a few and were unlucky with Romain Esse’s finish.
“Against a team who defends so deep, I think it was our best game. So many chances, scoring three goals, clean sheet – a very good night.”
