Getafe defender, Djené Dakonam, has revealed that the club made every effort to keep Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche at the team.
The Nigerian international departed Getafe this summer to join Premier League side Crystal Palace.
In an interview with Fichajes, Dakonam explained that the club’s hands were tied due to La Liga’s financial regulations, which forced Uche’s sale.
“We loved him very much, we wanted him to stay. But the president decided that the best thing for the club was for Uche to leave, and that’s what happened,” he said.
During his time in Spain, Uche featured in 41 matches across all competitions, netting four goals and providing seven assists.
