UCL: Martinelli makes history after Arsenal win over Club Brugge

Gabriel Martinelli etched his name into Arsenal history on Wednesday, setting a new UEFA Champions League scoring record after helping the Gunners secure a convincing 3-0 win over Club Brugge.

The Brazilian forward extended his remarkable scoring streak this season, opening the scoring for Arsenal just after the break.

Noni Madueke had initially put the Gunners ahead with a stunning strike in the 27th minute before doubling the lead with a header into an empty net only 80 seconds into the second half.

Martinelli then sealed the victory with a brilliant third goal 10 minutes later, leaving the Belgian side with no way back.

According to OptaJoe, Martinelli has become the first Arsenal player ever to score in five consecutive UEFA Champions League appearances.

He also marks the first player in any major European competition to achieve such a feat since Thierry Henry in the UEFA Cup in April 2000.

Arsenal now shift focus back to the Premier League, facing a struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers side this weekend.

The Gunners will be eager to bounce back after a narrow 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa, where Mikel Arteta’s men conceded a stoppage-time goal.
