Barcelona overturned an early setback to claim a 3-1 victory over Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou on Tuesday night, securing an important win despite Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty.
Raphinha, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres all struck for the hosts after Alex Baena had opened the scoring for Atletico.
The visitors went ahead inside 20 minutes when Baena timed his run perfectly to beat the offside line and calmly slot past Joan Garcia.
Barcelona responded almost immediately. Pedri sliced open the defence with a superb through ball, allowing Raphinha to race through, round Jan Oblak and tuck home the equaliser.
Seven minutes before the break, Barca had the chance to go in front after Olmo was brought down in the box, but Lewandowski blasted the resulting penalty over the bar in a shocking miss from 12 yards.
After the restart, Olmo made amends in style, capping off a flowing team move with a composed finish from the edge of the area.
He appeared to land awkwardly on his shoulder as he struck the ball, but the goal stood out for its quality.
Deep in stoppage time, substitute Ferran Torres sealed the result, converting from close range after an inviting delivery from Alejandro Balde.
