The Federal Government has launched the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a national digital learning programme designed to expand access to quality education for children across the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, the initiative was described as “a groundbreaking programme that promotes equitable access to quality learning for every Nigerian child.”
She explained that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is meant to address persistent challenges in the education sector, including teacher shortages and disruptions to learning.
According to the ministry, the Inspire Live(s) platform delivers live, interactive classes directly to students, ensuring that learners can access quality teaching regardless of their location or circumstances.
The statement noted that the approach “democratises access to quality education and ensures that no child is left behind.”
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation of the programme has begun, adding that the rollout is expected to cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.
He also disclosed that online classes for Junior and Senior Secondary School students are already running on the Inspire platform from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and are handled by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
The ministry explained that the subjects available for JSS learners include Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Agricultural Science, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies. For SSS students, the subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Geography, Civic Education, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing or Catering Craft, and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure smooth implementation across the country, the ministry said it had instructed all state Commissioners for Education to coordinate the programme effectively and communicate its details to school principals.
It also directed states to ensure that selected schools have the basic ICT tools and internet connectivity needed for the programme to succeed.
The ministry stressed that registration for participation is to be handled strictly by school principals through the Inspire support channels.
It added that the platform is not limited to government-owned schools and that both public and private schools nationwide are eligible to participate.
“This programme is open to every school in Nigeria, provided the required digital facilities are in place,” the statement said.
