Rolando Mandragora’s spectacular strike kept Fiorentina unbeaten under Paolo Vanoli, but the team remains without a win in Serie A this season after a 1-1 draw at home against Juventus, who themselves remain undefeated under Luciano Spalletti.
Juventus had come into the match hoping for only their third away victory of the 2025/26 campaign, but their first opportunity was denied just 15 minutes in.
A VAR review overturned a penalty initially awarded for a supposed foul on Dusan Vlahovic by Pablo Mari.
The game remained goalless until the 25th minute, when Moise Kean, Fiorentina’s former Juve forward, drove inside and rattled the crossbar with a powerful shot.
Shortly after, Mandragora came close from a free-kick, while Vlahovic, through on goal, rounded David de Gea but could only send his effort wide under pressure from the Fiorentina defence.
Juventus eventually broke the deadlock deep into stoppage time of the first half.
A cleared cross fell to Filip Kostic, who unleashed a thunderous shot from 25 yards that found the bottom corner of the net, giving De Gea no chance.
However, Fiorentina quickly responded. Just three minutes after the restart, Mandragora took aim from even further out and fired an unstoppable strike into the top corner, leaving Michele Di Gregorio rooted to the spot.
The match at Stadio Artemio Franchi was a showcase for long-range efforts. Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yıldız, and Kean all tested the goalkeepers with powerful shots from outside the area before halftime.
As the second half wore on, Juventus pressed for a winner. Fabio Miretti’s strike hit the side netting, Francisco Conceicao’s effort was comfortably saved, and Weston McKennie’s header was tipped over by De Gea. Despite dominating in patches, Juventus could not find the decisive goal.
The draw leaves Juventus with just two wins in their last 13 matches across all competitions, while Fiorentina have avoided defeat in back-to-back league games for the first time since the opening two rounds of the season.
