The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the destruction of a major terrorist stronghold in Zamfara State following precision airstrikes carried out on Thursday, November 14, 2025.
The operation targeted the Sauri camp in Tsafe Local Government Area and was executed by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, after intelligence reports indicated heightened terrorist activity in the area.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were launched after “comprehensive intelligence and surveillance operations established the presence of armed terrorists and rustled livestock concealed on a high-ground defensive hideout used as both a logistics hub and shield.”
Ejodame explained that the air component “conducted multiple coordinated strike passes that achieved direct hits on key locations within the camp. Surviving terrorists who attempted to escape into nearby vegetation were tracked and effectively engaged.”
He added that the mission “resulted in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical structures, assets, and supply points, significantly degrading the criminals’ operational capability in the region.”
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the troops for the successful mission, reaffirming the force’s determination to maintain increased pressure on armed groups.
“We will find them, hunt them down, and protect our people,” Aneke said, emphasising the NAF’s resolve to ensure that terrorists are denied safe havens across the North-West.
The latest strike is part of ongoing intensified operations targeting terrorist and bandit enclaves across northern Nigeria. Earlier this month, NAF aircraft conducted similar attacks on ISWAP positions in Borno State and bandit camps in Kwara and Katsina.
The military says Operation FANSAN YAMMA will continue to support broader national efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability to conflict-affected communities.
