Flamingos’ Moshood in final list for CAF Young Women Player Award

Flamingos captain, Shakirat Moshood, has earned a place among the final three contenders for the 2025 CAF Young Player of the Year (Women) award.

The talented teenager is joined on the shortlist by Morocco’s Moha El Madani and Senegalese forward Adji Ndiye.

Moshood was one of Nigeria’s brightest performers at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where the Flamingos bowed out in the Round of 16 under the guidance of coach Bankole Olowookere.

Beyond her exploits on the global stage, the forward played a key role for Bayelsa Queens during their triumphant 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League campaign and finished as top scorer at the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire.

Nigeria’s senior women’s team, the Super Falcons, also secured a spot among the final three nominees for the Women’s National Team of the Year.

Led by Justine Madugu, the Falcons clinched a historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco in 2024.

They will compete for the award against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco and Ghana’s Black Queens.
