President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to eliminate terrorism in Nigeria while deepening diplomatic engagement with international partners.
The President made the commitment on Thursday at the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting was the council’s first since July.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism,” Tinubu said before the session moved behind closed doors.
“The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria.”
Tinubu’s comments follow the recent designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” by U.S. President Donald Trump — a classification the Federal Government has strongly disputed.
Speaking publicly on the matter for the first time, the President maintained that Nigeria remains committed to working with global partners to enhance national security, stabilize communities, and stimulate economic growth.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” he said.
“The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy.”
He noted that although significant challenges remain, his administration will continue to push reforms and maintain unity.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” Tinubu added.
The President also commended members of his cabinet for their efforts in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda and urged them to remain focused on delivering results.
He assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to national peace, security, and economic recovery.
