Ex-Arsenal star ‘ends’ deal with Mexican club amid missing dog drama

Former Arsenal midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, has reportedly ended his contract with Mexican side Pumas UNAM after featuring just six times for the club.

The 34-year-old Welshman, who joined the Liga MX outfit in July, has struggled for playing time, making only three starts before being sidelined by a hamstring injury earlier in the campaign.

Despite his vast experience with top European clubs like Arsenal and Juventus, Ramsey was unable to cement a regular spot in the squad.

Pumas currently sit 13th in the league standings with two fixtures remaining in the regular season.

They must finish inside the top 10 to qualify for the play-offs, a task they will now attempt to complete without Ramsey, according to ESPN (via Daily Mail).

Off the pitch, Ramsey has also faced personal turmoil. Just days before news of his contract termination, the midfielder doubled the reward for information about his missing dog, Halo, who disappeared earlier this month in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

Halo, a 10-year-old beagle, vanished on October 9 while wearing a tracking collar near a local dog shelter. Ramsey initially offered a $10,000 reward, but after a week with no leads, he raised the amount to $20,000 (£15,000).

In a heartfelt social media appeal, Ramsey wrote, “Any news about our Halo please contact us. Big reward for finding her. We are all praying she’s OK and can be back with us soon.”

He later added another emotional post, “We just want our girl back.”

Ramsey also shared a touching photo of Halo asleep in his arms, captioned, “What I’d do to hold you one last time Halo.”

His wife, Colleen, has voiced the family’s deep concern, saying they have “serious questions” about Halo’s disappearance and fear they “may never get answers.”

She added, “We still haven’t found Halo. I don’t think we ever will.”

Volunteers have joined the search efforts in the area, putting up posters and sharing updates online to help locate the family’s beloved pet. Halo is part of the Ramsey household along with the couple’s children, Sonny, Tomas, and Teddy, all of whom have been involved in the public appeals.

Ramsey had returned to Cardiff City, his boyhood club, before moving to Mexico in the summer.

He made 52 appearances for the Bluebirds across two spells but is best remembered for his decade at Arsenal, where he played 369 matches, netted 64 goals, and lifted the FA Cup three times.

Following his exit from the Emirates in 2019, he joined Juventus, winning the Serie A title and featuring 70 times, scoring six goals for the Italian giants.
