NSCDC hands over suspected India hemp dealer to Kano NDLEA

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has transferred a suspected Indian hemp dealer, alongside two accomplices, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.

The suspects, identified as Yusuf Alasan (25), Muktar Musa, and Musa Sani, were reportedly arrested by NSCDC operatives in Doguwa Local Government Area on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following a tip-off from residents.

Speaking while handing over the suspects to NDLEA officials at the command’s headquarters on Friday, the NSCDC State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, said the arrest was part of the corps’ ongoing efforts to curb drug-related crimes and other criminal activities in the state.

“You are invited here today to witness another milestone achieved by the Corps in its continuous efforts to rid Kano of criminally minded elements,” Bodinga said.

“Acting on credible intelligence, our operatives in Doguwa division intercepted a motorbike carrying three men with three sugar-sized sacks filled with marijuana. The main suspect, a known dealer in Indian hemp, confessed to transporting the substance from Doguwa town to Kafau within the same local government area.”

Bodinga explained that after completing preliminary investigations, the corps decided to hand the suspects over to NDLEA “in the spirit of synergy and collaboration among sister security agencies.”

“We are committed to working hand-in-hand with other security agencies to eliminate drug trafficking and criminal activities in Kano State,” he added.

The NSCDC boss urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help rid their communities of criminal elements.

This arrest follows a similar operation carried out by the corps in August, where two suspects involved in drug dealing and burglary were apprehended in separate raids across Kano State.

The NSCDC has reiterated its resolve to sustain the fight against illegal drug trafficking and other crimes through intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation.
