Chelsea’s Estevao Willian opens up on fierce Brazil squad competition

Chelsea youngster, Estevao Willian, has opened up about the intense battle for places in Brazil’s national team, admitting that the level of competition pushes him to keep improving.

Speaking with TribalFootball, the Brazilian winger said he must give his all to maintain a spot in the Selecao’s starting lineup.

“They’re high-quality players who make up the national team’s attack, and it’s clear that the competition is fierce. I see it as a motivation to continue to grow in football, to work hard, and to be here.

“I see it as a way to evolve. I have to work harder at Chelsea, work harder here, to make a growing contribution and, God willing, be at the World Cup.”

The 17-year-old also credited his family for helping him stay grounded amid both success and challenges.

“I’m a very calm guy in that sense, a lot of it comes from my family, my immediate family, who are always by my side in these times.

“So, whenever I have these moments of glory or difficulty, I always try to talk to them, I vent to them, and for me it’s much easier, because they’re my parents, my parents who help me, who know my flaws, they know my strengths.”
