Harry Kane has set a new benchmark in goalscoring, surpassing both Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland in remarkable fashion, according to talkSPORT.
The England captain bagged a brace in Bayern Munich’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Friday, first converting from the penalty spot in the opening half before adding a close-range finish just after the hour mark.
While goals are nothing new for Kane, this particular double carried historic significance.
His second strike on the night brought up his 100th goal in Bayern colours, a milestone that came in record time.
The 32-year-old has now become the fastest player ever to reach 100 goals for a single club, hitting the tally in just 104 appearances.
That achievement moves Kane ahead of Ronaldo, who had set the previous standard in November 2011 when he reached 100 goals in 105 matches for Real Madrid during a 2-0 Champions League win over Lyon.
However, the Portuguese superstar did not hold sole ownership of the feat for long. Erling Haaland matched the record with Manchester City in the 2024/25 season, netting against his old side Borussia Dortmund on his 105th outing.
Now, the prolific Englishman has gone one better, taking sole possession of the record and underlining the electric form he is enjoying in Bavaria.
Kane was denied the chance of a hat-trick, however, as he made way in the 78th minute.
Heading into the clash with Bremen, he had already tallied 13 goals and three assists in just seven matches this campaign, including a treble in last weekend’s 4-1 win at Hoffenheim.
