The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, has placed a $10,000 bounty on Olumide Adebiyi Adediran, a Nigerian national declared wanted for multiple fraud-related offences dating back more than two decades.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the FBI said Adediran, 56, is facing charges of bank fraud, identity document fraud, and credit card fraud allegedly committed in Illinois as far back as 2001.
“Olumide Adebiyi Adediran is wanted for violation of conditions of release,” the agency announced. “The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.”
Adediran, who reportedly used several aliases including Kevin Olumide Adediran, Eric O. Williams, Maxo Alexandre, Olumide Adkins, and Edward N. Anderson, is accused of attempting to cash fraudulent checks and using stolen identities of U.S. citizens to open bank and credit accounts.
According to investigators, he fled the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, shortly before his trial was due to begin. A federal warrant was subsequently issued on January 2, 2002.
“Adediran allegedly entered a bank in Champaign, Illinois, in August 2001 and attempted to retrieve funds from a fraudulent check deposit,” the FBI explained. “He also allegedly used stolen information of United States citizens to open financial accounts.”
The Bureau noted that the suspect may have links to South Florida and urged anyone with credible information to come forward.
“He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes,” the statement added.
