“We are here to brief the Command on NEMA’s strategic priorities under the current leadership and to strengthen the institutional collaboration between both agencies,” Saheed said. “The Nigeria Police Force has been a critical partner in disaster response, and we are appealing for the creation of a dedicated Disaster Management Unit within the Oyo State Command, just like the military’s Disaster Response Unit.”

In his response, CP Haruna welcomed the NEMA team and assured them of the police’s readiness to cooperate in advancing emergency response efforts.

“We are grateful for this visit and for your recognition of our role,” Haruna said. “The Command remains committed to deepening synergy with NEMA and will support the establishment of a Disaster Management Unit within our structure.”
