England-born Nigerian defender, Emmanuel Airoboma, has penned his maiden professional contract with Liverpool, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old, who has been part of the Reds’ Academy setup since joining from grassroots football at U12 level, is primarily a centre-back but is also comfortable at right-back.
Airoboma was a consistent performer for Liverpool’s U18s last season, making 22 league appearances before earning promotion to Rob Page’s U21 squad ahead of the new campaign.
He made his Premier League 2 debut on August 25, coming off the bench in a 3-2 defeat to Burnley, and was also named among the substitutes in the EFL Trophy clash against Burton Albion’s senior team.
Liverpool described him as a promising young talent whose development continues to progress through the ranks at Anfield.
