President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. His appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.
According to the statement, Olumode’s appointment follows the scheduled retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will officially exit the service on August 13, 2025, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The CDCFIB described the incoming Controller-General as a seasoned officer with a robust track record in fire service administration. “Olumode brings a wealth of experience to the role,” the statement read. “He began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources.”
The Board noted that Olumode had undergone all required in-service and command courses, both locally and internationally, throughout his career. In addition to his professional experience, he holds membership and fellowship in key professional institutions, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
Commending the outgoing Controller-General, the CDCFIB acknowledged his dedication and contributions to the growth of the Federal Fire Service. “We deeply appreciate Engr. Jaji’s remarkable leadership and the impactful initiatives he spearheaded during his tenure,” the statement added.
Olumode’s appointment is expected to bring continuity and further development to the Federal Fire Service, especially in the areas of human resource management and operational efficiency.
