President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, describing his death as a loss that extends beyond Zamfara State.
The President’s condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga
“The passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, is not just a loss to the people of Gusau or Zamfara State but a collective loss to the entire nation,” Tinubu said. “
He was a man of integrity who dedicated his life to public service and leadership.”
President Tinubu praised the late emir’s distinguished career in the civil service, where he rose to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the former Sokoto and Zamfara States, before ascending the throne as the 16th Emir of Gusau.
He offered his condolences to the bereaved royal family, the government and people of Zamfara State, and the wider traditional institution. “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and comfort those he left behind,” Tinubu added.
Dr. Ibrahim Bello died on Friday morning in Abuja at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness. He ascended the throne in 2015 following the death of his father.
Also reacting to the monarch’s passing, the spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Sulaiman Idis, said the state government received the news with deep sadness.
The late Emir is remembered for his devotion to peace and development in Zamfara State and for serving as a symbol of unity in the region for over a decade.
