Army troops nab three suspected kidnappers in Delta

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of Operation Delta Safe, have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The joint operation followed a tip-off that led security forces to the suspects’ hideout.

The Assistant Director and Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Army, Capt. Iliyasu Bawa, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba. According to the statement, a gun battle broke out as security operatives closed in on the suspects, leaving one of them, 31-year-old Justwill Brodeick, with gunshot wounds.

Two other suspects, 29-year-old Olokepomu Kelvin and 22-year-old Oghenekaro Jonathan, were successfully apprehended during the operation. The injured suspect is currently receiving medical treatment, while the other two remain in custody pending further investigation.

The Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Brig.-Gen. Moronfolu Shonibare, praised the troops for their professionalism and diligence in the operation. He also called on the public to continue providing credible information to support military efforts in maintaining peace and security across Delta State.
