Safety Advisory

NiMet advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against extreme weather conditions.

“Strong winds may precede the thunderstorms in some areas, and it is important for the public to secure loose objects to prevent accidents,” the agency warned.

The agency also advised residents to avoid driving in heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances, and stay away from tall trees or unstable structures.

“For accurate flight planning, airline operators should obtain airport-specific weather forecasts from NiMet,” it added.

NiMet encouraged the public to stay updated with reliable weather forecasts via its official website: www.nimet.gov.ng.

“Being informed can help save lives and reduce property loss. We urge all residents to heed our daily weather reports,” the agency emphasized.
