Scottish Premiership side Motherwell have completed the signing of Nigerian winger Ibrahim Said from Danish club Viborg FF for an undisclosed amount.
The 23-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract at Fir Park, with the club holding an option to extend for a further year. The transfer remains subject to international clearance.
Said expressed his excitement about the new chapter, telling the club’s official website, “I am happy to be in the door. This move has been long in the making, and I’m excited about what the manager is trying to build here. There are good players in the squad, and I hope I can excite everyone who comes to watch us play.”
The winger began his European career at Viborg in 2021 after leaving Dabo Babes Academy in Nigeria.
Despite reported interest from European heavyweights including Club Brugge, İstanbul Başakşehir, Liverpool, and Manchester City, Said opted for a move to Denmark, where he signed a four-year deal.
He quickly made his mark, earning promotion to the Danish Superliga with Viborg and going on to feature in over 100 matches.
During his time in Denmark, he scored 11 goals and contributed 11 assists, establishing himself as a consistent performer.
Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou, who is familiar with Said’s development in Denmark, is optimistic about what the winger can bring to his side.
“Ibrahim is a versatile winger who excels both in wide 1v1 situations and in tighter spaces within the opposition’s structure,” Askou said.
“He has made a big impact at Viborg in the Danish Superliga over several strong seasons, and we’re very excited to have him joining us at Motherwell.”
“He will bring speed, dribbling ability, high-intensity pressing, and good finishing qualities to the team, and we’re looking forward to getting him involved.
“We will need to be patient with his full integration into matches, as he is a few weeks behind the rest of the squad, but we have a clear plan to bring him up to speed.
“At 23, Ibrahim is still young and has plenty of potential to grow and develop further. I’m confident he will thrive in our environment and become a very exciting player for our supporters to watch.”
Motherwell fans will now be eager to see how Said adapts to life in Scotland and what impact he can make in the upcoming campaign.
