Real Madrid to host 2030 World Cup final at Bernabeu

The iconic Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid is on course to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, following a reported agreement between FIFA and Real Madrid, as revealed by Jose Felix Diaz in MARCA.

Although an official announcement is yet to be made, insiders familiar with the development have confirmed that a deal has been struck.

The 2030 edition of the World Cup will be a landmark tournament, jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

Within Spain, several cities, A Coruna, Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Madrid, Málaga, San Sebastian, Sevilla, and Zaragoza, are scheduled to host matches.

However, when it comes to staging the final, all signs currently point to the Santiago Bernabeu as the leading candidate.

FIFA’s enduring and cooperative relationship with Real Madrid has been instrumental in this choice.

Over the years, both parties have enjoyed a productive partnership, and this latest move seems to reflect their continued collaboration.

Barcelona had also entered the race to host the final at the upgraded Spotify Camp Nou.

Club vice-president Elena Fort made a case for the stadium last month, stating, “Everyone has the right to play their cards, but the Camp Nou is worthy of hosting the final of a World Cup.”

Despite that ambition, delays and uncertainty surrounding the completion of the Camp Nou renovation appear to have put Barcelona at a disadvantage.

While the tournament is still half a decade away, FIFA is reportedly prioritising venues with assured infrastructure and operational readiness, qualities Madrid currently demonstrates in abundance.

With the newly revamped Bernabeu already proving its capability by hosting major global events and football spectacles, its central location and cutting-edge amenities now position it as the most likely stage for football’s biggest night in 2030.
