Spain international, Marco Asensio is edging closer to a sensational move to Turkish side Fenerbahçe, where he is set to join forces with manager José Mourinho.
The winger is currently on the books of French champions Paris Saint-Germain but appears poised for a fresh chapter in his career.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, revealed that Fenerbahçe is in the final stages of securing a deal with PSG, having already reached an agreement with the player.
This move would see Asensio become one of the marquee signings under Mourinho’s leadership.
The Spanish attacker, who joined PSG from Real Madrid in 2023, is now expected to undergo a medical in Istanbul before putting pen to paper on his contract with the Turkish club.
The switch is only pending a final nod from the Ligue 1 outfit.
“Fenerbahçe are closing in on Marco Asensio deal! Agreement at final stages with all parties involved,” Romano stated on X, emphasizing the progress made in recent days.
“Asensio has accepted contract proposal and already said yes to Fenerbahçe as @yagosabuncuoglu reports. Final green light needed from PSG and then… here we go,” he added, confirming the player’s approval of the move.
Should the transfer go through, Asensio will be joining a Fenerbahçe side aiming for domestic dominance and European relevance under Mourinho’s experienced guidance.
The deal signals the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level with top-tier talent.
