AS Roma have officially confirmed the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini as their new head coach, with the experienced tactician signing a deal that runs until June 2028.
He will work closely with club advisor Claudio Ranieri, who played a key role in bringing him to the capital.
Although the decision had already been finalized last week, the club only made it public this afternoon through an official statement.
“AS Roma announces the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini as the Club’s new Head Coach,” read the announcement.
“Gasperini’s career is defined by its creative tactics, dedication to hard work, and exceptional player development.
“Both Ownership and Claudio Ranieri believe Gasperini is the right man for the mission.
“Welcome to the Club Mister!”
Gasperini joins Roma after a memorable nine-year spell with Atalanta, during which he guided the Bergamo side to historic heights.
Among his achievements was a stunning UEFA Europa League triumph, capped by a hat-trick from Ademola Lookman in a 3-0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
Under his leadership, Atalanta also reached the Coppa Italia final, made a run to the Champions League quarter-finals, and qualified for Europe’s elite competition five times in seven seasons.
Ranieri, who is stepping away from coaching after leading Roma to a fifth-place finish in Serie A this season, was a key influence in the decision to appoint Gasperini, ensuring a smooth transition as he passes the torch to the seasoned coach.
