Three individuals suspected of being involved in armed robbery have been apprehended by the Anambra State Police Command, with two reportedly stolen vehicles recovered in the process.

The State Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known in a statement released to journalists on Monday in Awka.

According to Ikenga, the arrests were executed by officers from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, on May 30 at Agukwu-Nri, located in Anaocha Local Government Area.

He revealed that the breakthrough followed intelligence gathered from another armed robbery suspect who was already in police custody.

The suspects, identified as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu, all males aged between 27 and 32, were arrested with several incriminating items in their possession.

Recovered from the trio were a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number KWC 140, an ash-coloured Lexus 350 with registration number 669 CY, two high-end mobile phones, and a pump-action rifle.

“Police have expanded investigations and are working seriously to arrest other gang members at large. We are calling on the public to provide credible information that will assist us in fighting crime and criminality in the state,” Ikenga stated.

“This development highlights the command’s proactive approach towards combating all forms of crime in the state,” he added.

Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend other members of the criminal group who are still at large.
