Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed that the choice for Omar Marmoush to take the penalty in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace was a decision made between him and Erling Haaland.
The match at Wembley ended 1-0 in favour of Palace, thanks to Eberechi Eze’s first-half goal.
Before halftime, City earned a penalty following a foul on Bernardo Silva, presenting an opportunity to level the score.
Although Haaland is usually the designated penalty taker, he chose to let Marmoush step up for the spot-kick.
However, Marmoush’s penalty was saved by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who made several key saves to secure the victory.
When questioned about why Marmoush took the penalty instead of Haaland, Guardiola responded, “I don’t know, I didn’t speak to them.
“They made a decision. They decide.”
