Erling Haaland delivered a ruthless hat-trick as Manchester City cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over Liverpool to book a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
The win ensured Pep Guardiola’s men reached the last four of the competition for a record eighth straight season.
It also piled more pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot ahead of their difficult UEFA Champions League trip to face Paris Saint-Germain.
City took the lead in the 39th minute after Virgil van Dijk brought down Nico O’Reilly inside the penalty area.
Haaland stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, sending Giorgi Mamardashvili the wrong way.
The Norwegian striker struck again deep into first-half stoppage time after being picked out by Antoine Semenyo.
Semenyo then got on the scoresheet himself five minutes into the second half to make it 3-0.
Haaland completed his hat-trick before the hour mark, smashing home from an O’Reilly cutback after the ball bounced off the crossbar.
Liverpool’s miserable afternoon worsened when Mohamed Salah failed to convert a penalty later in the game.
