The Peoples Democratic Party has expressed optimism about winning the November 16 Ondo State governorship election.
Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, made this declaration during the official flag-off ceremony of the 2024 Ondo state PDP governorship election campaign in Akure.
Mohammed dismissed claims of a crisis within the party, attributing such rumors to individuals seeking to establish a one-party state in Nigeria. He emphasized the PDP’s commitment to preventing this scenario, according to Leadership.
He said, “There is no crisis in the PDP. Those trying to create crises are trying to make Nigeria a one-party state, but the PDP will not allow that to happen.”
On the governorship election, the Governor of Bauchi State said, “Ondo is a home of knowledge. Education started here, and it is still on the rise. We do not condone injustice. All the PDP governors are with you. We are tired of hunger. We are going to get Ekiti; we’ll win in Ondo State, and we will also get Ogun State and Lagos State.
“Everyone should go out and deliver for Agboola Ajayi and his deputy. There is no time for sleeping. We will deliver ourselves from the shackles of poverty and hunger.”
The Bauchi State Governor rallied support for the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, urging party members to work tirelessly for victory. He highlighted Ondo State’s reputation as a hub of knowledge and education and emphasized the need to deliver the state from poverty and hunger.
Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum echoed Mohammed’s sentiments, stressing the need for change in Ondo State. He cited the growing hunger and lack of good roads as evidence of the APC’s ineffective governance.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde also addressed the crowd, warning against vote buying and selling. He encouraged the people to resist temptation and instead choose the PDP, citing the dividends of democracy evident in Oyo, Osun, and other PDP-controlled states.
Prominent PDP leaders attended the campaign event, including Senator Ademola Adeleke, Senator Sam Egwu, Senate Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, and former deputy governor of Ekiti State Senator Abiodun Olujimi.
The PDP’s confidence in winning the election reflects the party’s determination to regain control of Ondo State and address the pressing issues facing the people.
