Trump’s wife Melania makes surprise appearance during presidential campaign

In a rare appearance, Melania Trump, wife of former United States President Donald Trump, and their daughter Ivanka Trump showed their support for his presidential bid at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday.

Melania, the former First Lady, received a warm welcome from the crowd as she entered the event, waving and taking her seat in the family box. Unlike previous conventions in 2016 and 2020, she did not deliver a speech.

Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and other family members joined Melania, marking a notable presence on the campaign trail. The family’s appearance aimed to showcase Donald Trump as a devoted family man and selfless public servant, countering Democratic opponents’ portrayals.

As the convention concluded, the Trump family, including children, grandchildren, and Melania, joined Donald Trump on stage, surrounded by falling balloons. Melania showed affection, occasionally touching her husband’s arm and chatting with vice presidential pick JD Vance.

Donald Trump acknowledged his family’s support in his convention address, emphasizing “unity” and leading “for all of America, not half.” He expressed gratitude to his “amazing wife Melania” and thanked her for her statement calling for national unity after the recent assassination attempt on his life.

“Thank you, Melania, and thank you also for your beautiful letter to America calling for national unity,” Trump said. He also acknowledged his entire family, naming each member, including his children, their spouses, and his 10 grandchildren.
