Edo: Ighodalo urges electorate to interrogate leaders

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has called on voters to scrutinize leaders they intend to elect.

He emphasized that quality leadership determines progress in any state or organization.

Speaking at a symposium in Abuja, Ighodalo noted that the concept of leadership is misunderstood in Nigeria’s political circle.

He argued that elected officials should serve the people, not become their leaders, according to Independent.

Ighodalo faulted the existing process that leaves political parties to determine candidates, urging voters to rigorously interrogate those seeking office. He emphasized the importance of proper leadership recruitment, citing Edo State’s September 21 governorship election as a crucial moment.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, represented by his deputy, Marvelous Godwins, also stressed the importance of choosing the right leader to ensure the state’s progress.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including National Assembly members, civil societies, and Edo State groups.
