The Ondo State Government has announced its intention to take necessary legal action in response to the court judgment declaring the creation of 33 Local Council Development Areas as illegal.

In a statement released by the Attorney General, Kayode Ajulo, the government acknowledged the judgment and requested a certified true copy to review and analyze.

The government assured that a legal opinion would be presented to the state government, and subsequently, all necessary measures would be taken to safeguard the interests of citizens, promote peaceful coexistence, and uphold the rule of law.

The Attorney General reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the well-being and welfare of citizens, ensuring that justice and the law are served.

The judgment, delivered by Justice A.O. Adebusuoye of the Ondo High Court, deemed the creation of LCDAs illegal, citing the unconstitutionality of the Local Government Creation Law 2023 signed by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in Ibadan.

The Ondo government said a legal opinion would be presented to the state government after the study and analysis.

“Subsequently, all necessary measures, in accordance with our laws, will be taken to safeguard the interests of our citizens, foster peaceful coexistence, and uphold the rule of law.

“The attorney general remains steadfast in his commitment to prioritizing the well-being and welfare of our citizens, working tirelessly to ensure that justice and the law are served,” the statement said.
