The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 25 individuals in connection with a brutal assault on the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji-Idi.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, May 20, in Kwadon town, left the officer severely injured while he was carrying out his official duties.

According to reports, the incident was orchestrated by a gang of suspected hoodlums known locally as “Kalare,” who have a reputation for instigating fear and unrest across several communities in Gombe State.

State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement that CSP Adamu sustained a serious injury to the forehead and was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe for urgent medical attention.

“The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemns the recent violent attack on a serving Divisional Police Officer and wishes to inform the general public of the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” said DSP Abdullahi.

He further explained that the Command received an emergency alert around 9:00 a.m. on the day of the incident, prompting swift action from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations.

In response, tactical teams from Operation Hattara, under the leadership of CSP Ali Madaki, were deployed to the scene.

“Following coordinated tactical operations, 25 suspects, all residents of Kwadon town, were arrested in connection with the incident. They are currently in police custody undergoing a discreet investigation. Upon conclusion, they will be charged to court,” he added.

In a show of leadership and solidarity, Gombe State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police paid a visit to Kwadon to evaluate the situation firsthand.

They interacted with the deployed officers and reassured local residents of the command’s dedication to preserving peace and security.

“The era of attacking security personnel with impunity is over,” DSP Abdullahi warned, emphasizing the command’s strict stance against any form of aggression targeting law enforcement.

“Anyone found guilty of disrupting public peace or endangering the lives of law enforcement officers will face the full weight of the law.”

The police have called on residents of Kwadon and the broader Gombe community to remain peaceful, obey the law, and support the ongoing investigation, assuring the public that justice will be served and calm restored.
