2026 UTME: JAMB suspends exam town selection for Ekiti candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily halted the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ekiti State.

The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

Benjamin explained that the decision became necessary after the board observed structural issues in the current configuration of examination towns in the state.

According to him, the move is aimed at ensuring candidates write their examinations in locations closer to them, thereby reducing travel difficulties on exam days.

He said, “JAMB discovered certain anomalies in the arrangement of examination towns in Ekiti after the commencement of registration.

These issues require urgent restructuring so that candidates can be properly assigned without facing avoidable transportation challenges.”

Benjamin noted that, due to the ongoing adjustments, candidates registering for the UTME will be temporarily unable to pick any exam town in Ekiti.

“Consequently, candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the adjustment process is ongoing. This process is expected to be concluded shortly,” he said.

He added that the board regrets the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption.

“The board regrets any inconvenience this measure may cause candidates wishing to select examination towns during the ongoing registration exercise,” he stated.

Benjamin reaffirmed JAMB’s dedication to improving its operational efficiency and ensuring fairness to all applicants.

He added, “As a matter of practice, JAMB continuously monitors its activities and promptly addresses issues raised by candidates. We remain committed to ensuring that every candidate is treated with dignity and respect.”
