The inauguration ceremony took place at the Government House in Gusau, where the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for Zamfara indigenes.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

Leading the committee is the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari, who was announced as the Amirul Hajj and will serve as the committee’s chairman.

Other notable members include the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sulaiman Adamu Gummi, who assumes the role of Vice Chairman, and Alhaji Habibu Balarabe, Executive Secretary of the Zakat Board, who has been appointed Secretary of the committee.

Governor Lawal underscored the critical nature of the committee’s role, highlighting the need for integrity and excellence throughout the pilgrimage process.

“The Zamfara State government, on behalf of our people, has placed great confidence in you to ensure that every aspect of the 2025 Hajj operation is executed with excellence, dignity and sincerity,” he declared.

He also encouraged collaboration with relevant bodies such as the Zamfara State Hajj Commission, federal institutions, and Saudi partners to foster smooth coordination and efficient operations.

“You must embrace openness, accountability and compassion in all your dealings, knowing fully that the lives and spiritual journeys of hundreds of our citizens are in your care,” Lawal emphasized.

The governor assured the committee of the state government’s full backing, while also demanding regular updates on their progress.

“We expect timely progress reports and, at the end of the exercise, a comprehensive report that captures achievements, challenges, and policy recommendations for future pilgrimages,” he added.

Lawal concluded his address by reminding members that they represent not only the state government but also the culture and values of Zamfara on an international platform.

“You are ambassadors of the government of Zamfara State and our culture, values, and religious integrity on the global stage. Therefore, I urge you to exemplify the virtues of humility, patience, discipline and devotion throughout the exercise. Let your conduct be a shining example for others to emulate,” he said.
